Two cars and four individuals were involved in a fatality auto accident on U.S. Highway 377 in Argyle on Saturday night, April 8, 2016 around 8:15 p.m., as traffic was diverted during an event at the Texas Motor Speedway. All drivers and occupants of both vehicles were killed in the head-on collision. Denton police are still investigating how the crash occurred.
Mothers and Their Daughters both killed in the fatality auto accident
The crash was reported about 8:15 p.m. in the 8000 block of Fort Worth Drive (U.S. Highway 377). According to police reports, a Nissan Rogue traveling south on the road collided head-on with a Volvo traveling north. Both cars were driven by mothers and the passengers in each of the vehicles were their daughters.
U.S. Highway 377 is a popular alternative route for motorists when traffic is diverted during events like the one the Duck Commander 500 event this past weekend at the Texas Motor Speedway.
The Dallas County medical examiner’s office identified one of the victims as a 4 year old girl, and the daughter in the other vehicle as a teenage girl.
Officials did not say if distracted driving by either party involved or the weather could have played a role in the fatality auto accident, though the Duck Commander 500 was rain delayed at various points throughout the day.
